DUCKS TAKE PART IN PROJECT FIT AMERICA

QJ and Street Team help keep students active

(Riverhead, N.Y., Oct. 10, 2013) – On Thursday, October 10, QuackerJack visited the Pulaski Street School in Riverhead to help kick off Project Fit America. Project Fit America is a program aimed to teach kids how to keep active while still having fun. The Riverhead Central School District became the first in New York to take part in the program thanks to the help of the Peconic Bay Medical Center and the Suffolk County Lions Club Diabetes Education Foundation.

The day started with QJ and students from Riverhead Central School District playing on the school’s new outdoor, above ground fitness equipment. The excitement then continued inside where everyone’s favorite mascot led the kids in hula-hooping and stacking cups.

QuackerJack and the Ducks Street Team, powered by National Grid, will attend the upcoming events listed below throughout the remainder of October. Be sure to stop by and congratulate the Ducks on winning back-to-back Atlantic League championships!

October 11 – Fire Prevention Week at Central Islip Fire Department (7:00-8:00 p.m.)

October 18 – Breast Cancer Awareness Celebration at PS 233Q in Flushing (10:30-11:30 a.m.)

October 21 – Baseball Awards Night at Copiague Youth League (7:00-9:00 p.m.)

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
