The Ducks (12-14) took the lead in the bottom of the first, when Elmer Reyes pulled a double over the third base bag to score Angelo Songco, giving the club a 1-0 lead. In the third, Reyes lined a single to center off Revolution (9-16) starter Victor Mateo, chasing home Delta Cleary Jr. to put Long Island up 2-0.

In the bottom of the fourth, Anthony Vega crushed a two-out triple to dead centerfield, and Dan Lyons drove him home with a single to expand the gap to 3-0. The lead continued to grow in the bottom of the fifth, when Alex Burg delivered a two-run double off Joe Van Meter to put the Ducks ahead 5-0. Mateo (0-3) allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks in 4.2 innings to take the loss.

John Brownell (2-0) delivered a strong outing, allowing two runs on four hits in 5.2 innings to get the win before giving way to Rob Rogers, who escaped a first-and-third, two-out jam in the sixth. The Ducks responded with a run in the bottom of the sixth on a double from Cleary Jr., scoring Vega to take a 6-2 lead.

The Revolution retaliated with a run in the top of the seventh off Eury De La Rosa with one out to cut the advantage to 6-3, but Tyler Wilson retired the final two in the frame without any further damage. Chin-Hui Tsao worked a scoreless top of the ninth to earn his first save of the season for the Ducks.
