TWO-OUT RALLY TOPPLES DUCKS

(Central Islip, N.Y., July 19, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 4-2 on Thursday night in the final game of a four-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.

GAME VIDEO: Mitch Canham's RBI double, Ray Navarrete's RBI single and Bob Zimmermann's eighth strikeout

POSTGAME VIDEO: Kevin Baez and Shawn Williams talk about the series finale

The Ducks jumped out in front with a two-out RBI double by Mitch Canham off Patriots starter Sean Green in the bottom of the second. However, Somerset took the lead in the following inning with a three-spot against Ducks starter Bob Zimmermann. Run-scoring singles by Jonny Tucker and Freddie Bynum and a RBI double by Jake Fox, all with two outs, did the damage.

It stayed that way until the eighth, when the Ducks cut the deficit to 3-2 on a two-out RBI single by Ray Navarrete. However, a run-scoring error in the top of the ninth for the Patriots rounded out the scoring.

Green (2-1) picked up the win after pitching eight innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out three. Zimmermann (4-4) was saddled with the loss despite tossing a complete game, as he surrendered four runs (three earned) on seven hits with eight strikeouts. Andrew Dobies got his first save of the season with a perfect ninth.

Navarrete and Shawn Williams paced the Flock with two hits apiece.

The Ducks continue their 10-game homestand on Friday, as they host the Sugar Land Skeeters in the first game of a three-game set. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 6:05. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Traditional Logo Baseball Caps, courtesy of Westbury Toyota. The Ducks will also be running their Friday night Pizza Hut K-Man promotion. If the Pizza Hut K-Man strikes out in the game, fans can redeem their game ticket for free breadsticks at a participating Pizza Hut location. Right-hander Jason Monti will get the start for the Ducks against Skeeters southpaw Jason Lane.

Tickets for the game and all Ducks home games are available by visiting the Bethpage Ballpark Box Office, calling (631) 940-TIXX, or going online to www.liducks.com. Fans unable to make the game can follow the action live on the radio at MyCountry 96.1 FM and online at LIDucks.com by clicking the Watch Live icon on the homepage. Streaming video and audio will be provided by iBN, the Internet Broadcast Network.
