DUCKS DOWNED BY BEES IN SERIES FINALE

Snider hits RBI double in loss

(New Britain, Conn., July 5, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the New Britain Bees 4-1 on Thursday night in the finale of a three-game series at New Britain Stadium.

GAME VIDEO: Check out highlights from tonight's game.

The Ducks got on the board right away in the first inning after Lew Ford and Travis Snider roped a pair of doubles to bring in the first run of the ball game. Long Island held the lead until the third inning, when Reid Brignac drove in a pair with a base hit up the middle.

A run-scoring fielder’s choice off the bat of Brock Stassi in the fifth inning and an RBI single from James Skelton in the sixth inning finalized the scoring for the Bees.

Jake Fisher (3-4) suffered the loss, lasting four and one-third innings, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks, striking out five. Mark Hamburger (6-5) earned the win for the Bees, throwing seven and two-thirds innings of one-run ball, allowing five hits, walking a pair, and striking out six. Evan Scribner converted his 11th save, allowing one hit in a scoreless ninth inning.

Ford paced the Flock with a pair of hits.

Long Island returns home on tomorrow night to begin a three-game series against the Sugar Land Skeeters. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Bethpage Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). It's a Bowlero Friday, and as fans exit the ballpark following the game, Ducks staff members will be handing out coupons for a special "buy one game of bowling, get one free" offer, courtesy of Bowlero. The Red Robin K-Man promotion will be taking place as well. A player on the Skeeters will be designated as the K-Man, and if he strikes out, all fans in a lucky section of the ballpark will win a "buy one entree, get one half off" discount, courtesy of Red Robin. Right-hander John Brownell (3-7, 4.17) gets the start for the Ducks against Skeeters righty Dallas Beeler (6-1, 1.99).
