DUCKS WELCOME PAST-CAPACITY CROWD ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Long Island unable to overcome early offense from Somerset

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 26, 2018) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Somerset Patriots 10-0 on Saturday night before a past-capacity crowd of 6,315 at Bethpage Ballpark. It marked the team’s first past-capacity of the 2018 and Atlantic League-record 673rd sellout all-time.

Somerset’s offense was fueled by four-run innings in the second and third. Julio Borbon’s two-run single in the second and Alex Castellanos’ two-run home run to left field in the third highlighted the scoring. Borbon collected three hits and three RBIs on the night, while Castellanos had two RBIs and two runs.

Ramon Cabrera led the Ducks offensively with two hits in the game and is now hitting .353 (6-for-17) since joining the Ducks. Emilio Bonifacio also added a hit in the game.

Patriots starter David Kubiak (1-0) earned the win, pitching five scoreless innings, allowing three hits while striking out six. Ducks starter Jake Dunning (1-3) took the loss, surrendering eight runs on seven hits and a walk over two and one-third innings with two strikeouts.
