REVOLUTION AVOID DUCKS SWEEP

(York, Penn., June 10, 2012) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the York Revolution 6-3 on Sunday evening in the final game of a three-game set at Sovereign Bank Stadium.

GAME AUDIO: Dan Lyons' solo homer in the fifth

GAME AUDIO: Josh Johnson's solo homer in the seventh

York jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning against Ducks starter Gustavo Chacin on a RBI single by James Shanks and a run-scoring fielder’s choice off the bat of Ramon Castro. Dan Lyons cut the lead to one with a solo homer, his second of the season, in the fifth off Revolution starter Chris Cody.

A two-run homer by Scott Grimes in the bottom of the fifth pushed the lead to 4-1. Josh Johnson’s solo blast, his fourth of the year, in the seventh sliced the deficit to two, but another two-spot for York in the bottom of the frame put the game out of reach.

Cody (3-5) got the win, allowing just two runs on five hits while striking out seven in seven innings. Chacin (0-2) took the loss, yielding six runs on six hits and four walks in six and one-third innings of work.

Lyons paced the Ducks with three hits and two RBI, while Brandon Sing added two hits.

Long Island heads to Lancaster to open a three-game series with the Barnstormers on Monday night. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. at Clipper Magazine Stadium.
