Fans were treated to exciting festivities throughout the morning on the plaza at Bethpage Ballpark. “Big Mike” from WALK 97.5, clad in full leprechaun gear to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, interacted with the crowd and helped count down to the opening of the box office. QuackerJack and Chipper, the mascot of Herr’s Potato Chips, joined Ducks manager Kevin Baez and baseball legend Bud Harrelson to greet fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures. Kids were also able to get in the spirit by hopping around in the Ducks Bounce House and showcasing their talent at the Speed Pitch.

Centerplate, the official concessions partner of the Long Island Ducks, provided complimentary food and beverages for fans as they waited in line, including coffee, hot chocolate, bagels, donuts and Herr’s Potato Chips. Kona Ice also stopped by to provide fans with some delicious frozen treats. The Waddle In Shop, the official merchandise store of the Ducks, was open for fans to stock up on Ducks apparel before the start of the season, including some brand new items.

Prior to the ticket windows opening, the Czark Family of Setauket was presented with several prizes from the Ducks and team sponsors, in recognition of their dedication by camping out for 29 hours. Gifts included a $500 Visa gift card, courtesy of Bethpage Federal Credit Union, as well as a luxury suite and first pitch experience for Fan Appreciation Day (Sunday, September 10 vs. Bridgeport). Twin sisters Brianna and Kaylin, 10, and their brother Patrick, 15, each received personalized Ducks t-shirts with “Czark” and the number ‘1’ on the back to commemorate being the first fans in line, while their mother, Sharon, took home a new Ducks sweatshirt. Finally, the family will be signed to a “one-day contract” for Fan Fest this year. The experience will include joining the team during warm-ups on the field before their spring training game. In addition, the children will get to sit in the dugout for an inning, while their father, Chris, will get to coach first base. Finally, the family will receive five reserved seats behind home plate for the remainder of the game.
