Season begins April 27; Home Opener May 4; All-Star Game July 11
(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 23, 2017) – The Long Island Ducks, in conjunction with the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, today announced the dates and starting times for the 2018 regular season. The Ducks enter their 19th season of play in the Atlantic League while also serving as the host of the league’s All-Star Game for the third time in franchise history (2002, 2010).
Long Island begins the regular season on the road Friday, April 27 with the opener of a three-game series against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. The 2018 Home Opener will take place at Bethpage Ballpark on Friday, May 4 at 6:35 p.m., with the Ducks hosting the Blue Crabs.
The 21st Annual Atlantic League All-Star Game will be hosted by the Ducks on Wednesday, July 11. More details about tickets to the game and events surrounding the midsummer classic will be announced in the coming months. The 2018 season will feature a 126-game schedule. Both halves of the season will be 63 games long, with the first half ending for the Ducks on Thursday, July 5 in New Britain and the season concluding on Sunday, September 16 at Sugar Land, the culmination of a six-game series in Texas. The Ducks will play 72 regular season games at home and 54 on the road, with the Road Warriors, a league-operated traveling team, returning to the Atlantic League for the first time since 2011.
Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy 12 weekends (Friday-Sunday) with the Ducks, including three in both May and June. Long Island will have its first Atlantic League Championship Series rematch with the defending champion York Revolution on the road June 7-10, with the Revs making their first visit to Bethpage Ballpark June 25-28. In addition, the Ducks will host their Sixth Annual Camp Day on Wednesday, July 18 against the New Britain Bees, with first pitch slated for 11:05 a.m. The full promotional schedule will be released in early March.
All Monday through Saturday games, will begin at 6:35 p.m., while start times for Sunday contests will be 1:35 p.m. in May, June and September and 5:05 p.m. in July and August.
