Team also hosting tryouts for on-field host and PA positions
Your time has come to step into the spotlight at Bethpage Ballpark! The Long Island Ducks, in conjunction with 106.1-FM WBLI, will hold their annual “Anthem Idol” contest TODAY, Saturday, April 11. Registration will take place promptly at 9:00 a.m., and contestants will be vying for six anthem openings during the 2015 season. If you want to compete to sing the National Anthem during a Ducks home game this year, this is your opportunity!
“Every year, ‘Anthem Idol’ brings out the best talent across Long Island,” says Ducks Director of Marketing and Promotions Jordan Schiff. “We look forward to seeing what this year’s competition brings, and hope that everyone performing gives us their best effort.”
The panel of judges will consist of WBLI Night Show Host MJ, along with representatives from the Ducks. Performances must be done a capella with a time limit of one minute and 30 seconds, and Anthem lyrics must be sung from memory. Instrumentalists and other unique performers are encouraged to participate as well. No tapes will be accepted. The lucky winners will each be notified in the weeks following the “Anthem Idol” competition.
Following the “Anthem Idol” event, the Ducks will also be hosting tryouts for on-field host and public address announcer positions during the 2015 season (start time is approximately 12:00).
The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
