QuackerJack Foundation teams up with Operation Gratitude

(Central Islip, N.Y., Oct. 29, 2015) – The three-time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks today announced that for a sixth consecutive year, Bethpage Ballpark will serve as a collection point for all extra Halloween candy that fans wish to donate to troops serving our country.

“This is the perfect way to make good use of your extra treats this year,” says Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. “The QuackerJack Foundation remains steadfast in its appreciation for the efforts of our Military, and we are happy to continue our support of Operation Gratitude.”

Candy will be collected and then mailed to Operation Gratitude by the QuackerJack Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ducks, to be used in care packages sent to troops fighting overseas. Operation Gratitude requests that all candy be separated to distinguish chocolate and non-chocolate items. In addition to Halloween candy, donations of dental hygiene products such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, dental floss, mouthwash (travel-size) and commercially-sealed lip balm are also welcome. Donations will be accepted at the Bethpage Ballpark executive offices during normal business hours (Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) through Friday, November 6.

Operation Gratitude annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas. Their mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of our Active Duty and Veteran communities and provide volunteer opportunities for all Americans to express their appreciation to members of our Military. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than One Million Care Packages. For more information, please visit www.operationgratitude.com.
