Workouts get underway in preparation for 15th Anniversary Season
(Central Islip, N.Y., April 23, 2014) – The back-to-back Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks continued their spring training workouts at Bethpage Ballpark this week in preparation for the 2014 season. The team’s 15th Anniversary Season of play in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball begins on Friday, April 25 in New Jersey against the Somerset Patriots at 7:05 p.m. The Ducks home opener will follow on Friday, May 2 against the York Revolution at 7:05.
In addition to workouts on the field, the Flock played a pair of spring training games against the Bridgeport Bluefish and two against the semi-pro Long Island Black Sox at the Duck Pond. The team will hold workouts on Wednesday and Thursday at home before they head to Somerset to begin the regular season. The Ducks also unveiled their marketing slogan for the 2014 campaign, “Life is Better Here!” The phrase will adorn promotional items and marketing materials (print, radio, tv) throughout the entire season.
Individual game tickets for the 2014 season are on sale now. The home opener takes place on Friday, May 2 as the Ducks take on the York Revolution at 7:05 p.m. Gates will open at 6:05, and the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Replica Championship Rings, courtesy of P.C. Richard & Son. Prior the game, the team will hold a Championship Ring and Banner Raising ceremony in celebration of the team’s 2013 Atlantic League championship.
