Plaque dedicated Wednesday at Bethpage Ballpark

(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 11, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks held a September 11th remembrance ceremony on Wednesday on the plaza outside Bethpage Ballpark in front of the flag poles.

Last year, New York City Fire Officer and Long Island 9/11 Memorial President Ken Dolan, along with his executive board, dedicated a steel beam from the World Trade Center to the Long Island Ducks and founder/CEO Frank Boulton in recognition of their long-time support and friendship of the organization. This year, a plaque was dedicated to accompany the steel beam and includes the names of all 490 Long Islanders who lost their lives in the attack on America. The plaque and beam will serve as a permanent tribute in remembrance.

The program began with the performance of the National Anthem by the D’Auria-Gupta Brothers and featured the Long Island Association of Retired New York Fire Fighters Color Guard. Following the anthem and brief remarks, the names of the 490 Long Islanders that lost their lives on September 11, 2001 were read aloud to those in attendance. To conclude, “God Bless America” was performed by the D’Auria-Gupta Brothers. Those unable to attend the ceremony can watch a replay in its entirety on the Ducks’ official YouTube channel by CLICKING HERE.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, please call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
