(Central Islip, N.Y., June 30, 2012) – On Saturday, Long Island Ducks mascot, QuackerJack, and several Ducks players were at Bethpage Ballpark as the Ducks hosted a blood drive in conjunction with Long Island Blood Services.
The lovable mascot and Long Island’s hometown team showed their support by taking pictures with donors and signing autographs. 38 people registered for the blood drive and 25 pints of blood were donated on Saturday from between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. With more than 38,000 blood donations needed everyday, the Long Island Ducks are proud to host these charitable events, knowing that the need for blood never takes a day off.
Make sure to come out to the ballpark again on August 4 for another blood drive here at the ballpark. Long Island Blood Services asks that donors have a valid photo or signature identification with them to the blood drive. Eligible donors must be between the ages of 16 and 75 and in good health. In addition, the minimum weight for donors is 110 pounds.
The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, please call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
