(Central Islip, N.Y., Dec. 12, 2021) – The Long Island Ducks hosted a U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Toys Foundation Toy Drive at Fairfield Properties Ballpark on Sunday.
Long Islanders were invited to visit the ballpark and drop off new and unwrapped donated gifts for those less fortunate this holiday season. Members of the USMC as well as local Junior ROTC members assisted in collecting the donated items, placing them in appropriate boxes and loading them onto trucks for proper transportation. Thousands of toys were collected at the event.
Additionally, a fun-filled atmosphere descended on the ballpark to celebrate this great cause. Those in attendance were able to enjoy refreshments from local food trucks and music from 98.5-FM LaFiesta. Additionally, several vintage cars were on display as well as race cars from Krantz Motorsports.
While all this was taking place, the Waddle In Shop officially opened for the holiday shopping season. Fans were treated to a wide selection of Ducks merchandise, including several new items for this holiday season. Additionally, Santa Claus, QuackerJack and Lew Ford all stopped by to say hello and pose for photos with fans. The shop will remain open Monday-Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through December 22nd for holiday shopping.
The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, a Professional Partner League of Major League Baseball.
