Six contestants chosen to sing during 2016 season

(Central Islip, N.Y., April 13, 2016) – The Long Island Ducks, in conjunction with 106.1-FM WBLI, held their annual “Anthem Idol” contest on Saturday, April 2 at Bethpage Ballpark. Contestants vied for six openings to perform the National Anthem before a Ducks game during the 2016 season. Each contestant performed a 90-second rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the judges, WBLI Radio Personality Syke and Ducks Outfielder/Bench Coach Lew Ford.

“We were positively blown away by the talented singers that came out and performed in this year’s competition,” says Ducks Director of Promotions and Marketing Jordan Schiff. “Choosing just six winners to sing was extremely difficult for us to do, but everybody deserves a round of applause for a job well done.”

The following are the winners of this year’s “Anthem Idol” contest and the dates that they will be performing the National Anthem at Bethpage Ballpark:

The trio of Jeannine Willms, Michele Sivori and Frank Walker (Deer Park) – Saturday, July 2

Cara Cirasole (West Babylon) – Sunday, July 17

Benjamin Truncale (Malverne) – Thursday, August 11
