Six contestants selected to perform in 2013

(Central Islip, N.Y., Apr. 15, 2013) – The Long Island Ducks, in conjunction with 106.1 WBLI, held their annual “Anthem Idol Contest” on Saturday, April 6, at Bethpage Ballpark. Registrants competed for six openings to perform the national anthem before a Ducks game during the 2013 season. Each contestant sang a 90-second rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” before the judges and fellow contestants. Ducks Media Relations and Broadcasting Manager Michael Polak and WBLI on-air personality Syke judged the contest.

“We had a great turnout for this year’s edition of Anthem Idol,” Ducks Promotions Manager Jordan Schiff said. “The contestants presented a great range of talent, and we are looking forward to seeing all the winners perform at Bethpage Ballpark this year.”

The winners of the contest are as follows: Aubrey Alvino of West Babylon; Jess Ingui of Mastic Beach; Maurice Mataban of St. James; Samuel Rodriguez of Central Islip; Deborah Santiago of Ronkonoma; and the duet of Michele Sivori and Jeanine Williams of Huntington. These lucky six will perform “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Bethpage Ballpark this summer. The Long Island Ducks would like to thank everyone who auditioned for their wonderful performances and for helping make the 2013 Anthem Idol Contest another big hit.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. Opening Day at Bethpage Ballpark is April 26, as the Ducks host the Sugar Land Skeeters at 7:05 PM. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
