Family fun event features spring training game vs. Wally Backman’s New Britain Bees

The Long Island Ducks have announced the Sixth Annual Fan Fest at Bethpage Ballpark will take place TODAY beginning at 10:30 a.m. and will be free of charge for everyone.

Fan Fest will give Long Islanders the opportunity to see their hometown team for the first time during this year’s All-Star Summer, presented by Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. All in attendance will have the chance to watch the team take batting practice on the field, an exclusive experience happening only on April 21. The full roster will then be introduced along the first base line prior to the team’s 1:00 p.m. spring training game. The Ducks will face the New Britain Bees in the exhibition contest, who are led by new manager and New York Mets legend Wally Backman.

Those in attendance will be treated to a host of fun activities in advance of this year’s All-Star Summer, presented by Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center. All of the team’s inflatables will be open for children (weather permitting), including the Bounce House, DuckTail Slide and Target Toss. Additionally, children can enjoy Face Painting on the concourse from Dina’s Dynamic Face Painting. The Waddle In Shop will be open for fans to purchase official team and All-Star Game apparel prior to the start of the 2018 season.

Exclusive events will also be taking place on April 21 for select Ducks fans. Those with tickets to every home game this season will be treated to their annual VIP Season Ticket Holder Barbecue, which will take place in the picnic area along the left field line. The event will include an all-you-can-eat assortment of food, beverages and snacks, with visits from Ducks players and coaches taking place during batting practice. Season ticket holders will also be able to pick up their VIP gifts during Fan Fest by visiting the Customer Service Center, located on the main concourse inside the West Gate. If you are interested in becoming a VIP season ticket holder and attending the barbecue, please contact the Ducks ticket office at (631) 940-3825, ext. 115 or 116.

Members of the Ducks Kids Club, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, will get to celebrate QuackerJack’s birthday during Fan Fest. The party will be hosted in the Smokin’ Al’s Party Deck, located along the left field line next to the playing field. Kids Club members will be able to sing “Happy Birthday” to QJ, enjoy some refreshments and pose for pictures with the eight-time Best Long Island Mascot.
