Hospital visits from QuackerJack and the Ducks Street Team complete

(Central Islip, N.Y., Dec. 20, 2012) – On Wednesday, December 19, the Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks capped off their annual Holiday Toy Drive by delivering hundreds of gifts to the pediatric units at three Long Island hospitals. Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, North Shore LIJ/Southside Hospital, and Stony Brook University Medical Center all received visits from special guests from the Ducks family, including Long Island’s favorite mascot, QuackerJack, co-owner/coach Bud Harrelson, infielder Ray Navarrete, B-103’s “The Wiseman and Frank” and the Ducks Street Team, powered by National Grid.

The visits brought smiles to the faces of children and their parents at each location, with many posing for pictures, giving high fives and getting excited for the holidays.

Each December, the Ducks host a month-long toy drive at the Waddle In Shop during the holiday season. This year’s drive was another resounding success, so much so that the team will also be donating toys left over from the visits to Christmas Magic, a not-for-profit organization which provides holiday generosity and spirit to those less fortunate. The Ducks would like to thank all who donated for making this one of the most successful toy drives in the team’s 13-year history.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
