Three Ducks will play on Atlantic League All-Star team in Sugar Land, Texas

(Central Islip, N.Y., July 7, 2014) – Atlantic League officials today announced the 2014 Atlantic League All-Star Game roster, and three members of the Long Island Ducks have been selected to participate in the league’s 17th midsummer classic. Outfielder and hitting coach Lew Ford, outfielder Adam Bailey and starting pitcher Shaun Garceau were each selected by fan, media, league official and coaching staff voting.

Ford has been one of the best offensive players in the Atlantic League this season. As of July 8, the fifth year Duck leads the league in RBI (56) and runs scored (54) while ranking second in batting average (.366), on-base percentage (.439), slugging percentage (.565) and hits (96), and third in home runs (11). The former big leaguer also leads the Ducks in multi-hit games with 28. He was named the Atlantic League Player of the Month in May after leading all Atlantic League regulars in batting average (.402), hits (47), total bases (75) and on-base percentage (.470). Defensively, Ford has yet to commit an error this season.

Bailey has put together a solid campaign all-around. As of July 8, he ranks second on the Ducks behind Ford in home runs (9) and RBI (40). The second year Duck is second on the team in triples (2) and third in doubles (11). Overall, he is batting .261 with 32 runs and 60 hits in 62 games. Defensively, Bailey has committed just one error and has three outfield assists.

Garceau has been one of the key members of Long Island’s starting rotation this year. He is tied for the Atlantic League lead in wins, with eight as of July 8, and has yet to lose since April 26, going 8-1 with a 4.58 ERA thus far in 2014. He currently ranks second in the league in games started (14) and complete games (2) while sitting third in strikeouts (68) and innings pitched (90.1). He was named the Atlantic League’s Pitcher of the Month for June after going 5-0 with a 2.60 ERA and one complete game in five starts.

The 2014 Atlantic League All-Star Game will take place on Wednesday, July 16th at 8:05 p.m. EDT at Constellation Field, home of the Sugar Land Skeeters.
