Audition to sing National Anthem before a Ducks game this season

FOX may have had “American Idol” but THIS…is “Anthem Idol!” The Long Island Ducks have teamed up with 106.1-FM WBLI to present the annual “Anthem Idol” contest, which will take place TODAY at Bethpage Ballpark.

“I’m consistently amazed by the talented performers that take part in this event each year,” says Ducks Director of Marketing and Promotions Jordan Schiff. “I have no doubt that our contestant pool will be better than ever!”

Registration will occur at 9:00 a.m. sharp, and contestants will be looking to secure one of six anthem openings during the 2017 season. If you hope to sing the National Anthem during a Ducks home game, this is your opportunity!

The panel of judges will consist of WBLI Drive Time Live co-host Syke and two-time Atlantic League champion/Ducks shortstop Dan Lyons. All performances have a time limit of one minute and 30 seconds and must be done a capella. Anthem lyrics must be sung from memory, and instrumentalists or other unique performers are also encouraged to participate. No tapes will be accepted. The lucky winners will each be notified in the weeks following “Anthem Idol.”

Upon completion of the event, the Ducks will also host tryouts for on-field host and public address announcer positions during the upcoming season. Audition start time is approximately 11:30 a.m. Those wishing to trying out for on-field host or public address announcer roles should contact Jordan Schiff via email ([email protected]) to express their interest.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
