Bio

Katz previously pitched with the Ducks during the 2019 season. He made 13 appearances, allowing eight runs over 15.1 innings while walking seven and striking out 13. The Manhasset native returned to action in 2021 with the Chicago Cubs organization, reaching as high as Double-A Tennessee. Across three levels of play, he appeared in 20 games (three starts), striking out 44 batters over 47 innings of work.

The 27-year-old began his career in the Chicago White Sox organization, spending three seasons (2015-17) in their system. He then joined the Baltimore Orioles organization and pitched two seasons (2017-18) in their ranks. The southpaw has an 8-11 career minor league record with a 4.45 ERA, seven saves and 261 strikeouts over 262.2 innings in 153 games (four starts). Katz, a graduate of Herricks High School in New Hyde Park, was originally selected by the White Sox in 27th round of the 2015 amateur draft from St. John’s University in Queens.
