Castro begins his first season with the Ducks, second in the Atlantic League and 10th in professional baseball. The catcher/first baseman split time earlier this season with the York Revolution and Wild Health Genomes, combining to post a .311 batting average with six home runs and 33 RBIs in 53 games. He spent the entire 2021 season with York as well, playing in 70 games. He batted .353 with 17 home runs, 59 RBIs, 47 runs, 92 hits, 12 doubles, three triples and a .390 on-base percentage.
Prior to joining the Atlantic League, the Bronx, N.Y., resident began his career with six seasons (2012-17) in the Atlanta Braves organization, reaching High-A. He was named an MiLB.com Organization All-Star in 2016 after batting .266 with 17 homers and 57 RBIs over 84 games with Single-A Rome. One year later, he earned Florida State League All-Star honors with High-A Florida, hitting .283 with 10 homers and 58 RBIs in 96 games. Castro then spent two seasons with the Evansville Otters of the Frontier League (2018-19).
