Bio

Smith begins his first season with the Ducks and sixth in professional baseball. The outfielder spent the first five seasons (2015-19) in the Texas Rangers organization, reaching as high as Single-A Hickory. In 169 games, he compiled a .229 batting average with nine home runs, 67 RBIs, 72 runs, 139 hits, 36 doubles, four triples and 18 stolen bases. 

The Georgia native earned Northwest League Mid-Season All-Star honors in 2016. That year, he hit .242 with three homers, 25 RBIs, 29 runs, 57 hits, 13 doubles, four steals, 23 walks and a .312 on-base percentage in 61 games with the Spokane Indians. The 26-year-old spent parts of two seasons (2018-19) with Single-A Hickory. Prior to his pro career, he played his high school baseball at South Gwinnett High School in Snellville, Ga. Smith was originally selected by the Rangers in the fifth round of the 2015 amateur draft.
