Bio

Sandford begins his first season with the Ducks, sixth in the Atlantic League, and 13th in professional baseball. The outfielder spent time in the APLB with four previous organizations, including the Lancaster Barnstormers (2017-19), York Revolution (2021), Lexington Legends (2021-22), and Gastonia Honey Hunters (2022).  The outfielder led the Atlantic League in stolen bases for three consecutive seasons, tallying 82 in 2017, 74 in 2018, and 78 in 2021, with the 82 bags swiped in 2017 ranking as the second most in a single season in ALPB history only trailing the 104 by Billy Hall of the Somerset Patriots in 2000. Sandford is also the Atlantic League’s all-time stolen bases leader with 295.

Sandford was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 47th round of 2010 amateur draft out of Park University in Parkville, Missouri. His career high in stolen bases in a single season was 99 back in 2015 while a member of the Vallejo Admirals of the Pacific Association, having done so in just 78 games played.
