Bio

Courtney begins his first season with the Ducks and third in professional baseball. The right-hander began the 2023 season in the New York Mets organization, making 14 relief appearances with Double-A Binghamton and two more with Triple-A Syracuse, combining to go 1-3 with a 5.18 ERA and one save. He allowed 14 runs on 19 hits and 10 walks over 24.1 innings while striking out 23 batters. He spent parts of three years (2021-23) in the New York Mets system, making two appearances in the Florida Complex League, 33 with High-A Brooklyn, 20 with Double-A Binghamton, and two with Triple-A Syracuse.

 Courtney was originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels as an amateur free agent on February 15, 2021. He pitched five seasons (2015-2019) at the University of Maine in the America East Conference, going 12-17 with a 3.92 ERA in 47 games (42 starts). He made 22 appearances with the Inland Empire (A, Angels) in 2021, going 3-1 with a 5.63 ERA, two saves and 46 strikeouts in 40.0 innings.
