56 exciting giveaways and theme nights scheduled

(Central Islip, N.Y., April 23, 2014) – Several new giveaways and special appearances have been added to the Long Island Ducks promotional schedule for the team’s 15th Anniversary Season. 56 of the team’s 70 regular season home games in 2014 now feature a giveaway item, theme night or special appearance. Among the new promotions added are special appearances by three famous cartoon characters. Peppa Pig, of the Nick Jr. TV show Peppa Pig, will be in attendance at Bethpage Ballpark during the Ducks game on Sunday, June 1 against the Somerset Patriots and Sunday, July 6 against the Camden Riversharks. Brobee, from the Nick Jr. show Yo Gabba Gabba!, will be stopping by the Duck Pond for Legends Day on Sunday, August 17 when Long Island hosts Somerset. Last but not least, Wubbzy, of the Nick Jr. show Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, will be at the Ducks game against the Riversharks on Sunday, August 31.

Also new to the promotional schedule are a handful of exciting giveaway items. On Wednesday, June 11 when the Ducks host the cross-sound rival Bridgeport Bluefish, the first 1,500 fans in attendance will take home a Ducks Baseball Bank, courtesy of Municipal Credit Union. The following night, the first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive Ducks Baseball Chill Packs, courtesy of Stony Brook Children’s. When Long Island hosts the Sugar Land Skeeters on Wednesday, July 9, the first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive Ducks Drawstring Bags, courtesy of the YMCA of Long Island. In addition, Ducks fans will take home a memorable 15th Anniversary Season keepsake on August 15th when black t-shirts featuring the 15th Anniversary Season logo go out to the first 1,500 fans through the gates, courtesy of Interboro Insurance.

Several theme nights have also been added to the promotional schedule. On May 16, “Don’t Zone Out Night” returns to the Duck Pond, and the first 2,500 fans in attendance will take home a Ducks Static Cling Decal, courtesy of CSEA. Then on August 22, the Ducks will host “Home Run Against Hunger” Night, presented by Janson’s Family ShopRite of Hauppauge. The night will feature a food drive dedicated to helping in the fight against hunger on Long Island. Finally, Wednesday, September 10 will feature The Great Plesser’s Giveaway Night where fans have the chance to win exciting electronics and appliance prizes all game long.

All the fun begins on Opening Night, Friday, May 2, when Long Island (and America’s) #1 family-owned and operated appliance and electronics company, P.C. Richard & Son, will present “Replica Championship Ring Night.” The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive ceramic molds of the team’s 2013 Atlantic League championship ring, courtesy of the electronics & appliance giant and long-time Ducks sponsor. Gates will open at 6:05 p.m. prior to that night’s game against the York Revolution, and fans will want to be in their seats early for a special Championship Ring and Banner Raising Ceremony to honor the 2013 Atlantic League champion Ducks.
