Pre-game barbecue, on-field catch and TOPPS giveaway scheduled
(Central Islip, N.Y., May 15, 2015) – The three-time Atlantic League champion Long Island Ducks will be celebrating Father’s Day at Bethpage Ballpark on Sunday, June 21 when they host the Bridgeport Bluefish at 1:35 p.m. The day will feature an exciting baseball card giveaway, courtesy of TOPPS, as well as an opportunity to enjoy an all-you-can-eat pre-game barbecue and have a catch on the field prior to game time.
“This is a great way for fathers to enjoy quality family time on a special day at the ballpark,” says Ducks President/GM Michael Pfaff. “We are excited to provide fans with this unique opportunity and look forward to spending Father’s Day with our ‘Faithful Flock.’”
Prior to the game, the Ducks will be hosting a Father’s Day Barbecue in the Hebrew National Picnic Area. Fans that purchase the Father’s Day Barbecue Package will be able to enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet that includes hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, ribs, roasted corn, tossed salad, Pepsi beverages, cookies, potato chips, snacks, watermelon, potato, and macaroni salad. The picnic will begin two hours before first pitch at 11:30 a.m. and will last through the start of the game. Fans can purchase this package now, which includes access to the Father’s Day Barbecue and a ticket to the game, for just $30 ($20 upgrade for season ticket and 10-game mini plan holders).
A second package is also available that includes the Father’s Day Barbecue, a ticket to the game, and the opportunity for one (1) father and one (1) guest to take the field at Bethpage Ballpark for a pre-game catch. This unique experience will last for 15 minutes from 12:00 to 12:15 p.m., and the pair will receive a Ducks logo baseball to use for their catch and keep as a souvenir. Participants should bring their own gloves to the game for the catch. Fans can purchase this package for just $40 ($30 upgrade for season ticket and 10-game mini plan holders). Pre-game catch packages are available on a first come, first serve basis, and availability is limited. Sunday, June 21 will also be “Re-discover TOPPS” Day at Bethpage Ballpark. The first 5,000 fans in attendance at the Father’s Day game will receive an MLB sample card pack to take home with them. In addition, one lucky fan in the ballpark will be chosen to receive a special prize pack that includes a box of Series 2 baseball cards, a “Major League” The Movie Wax Pack, and a 5” x 7” oversized team set from Topps.com. The winner will also be entered into an Atlantic League-wide Grand Prize drawing to receive a box of all of the 2015 Topps baseball releases.
Finally, everyone will be able to enjoy all of the exciting activities as part of the weekly Sunday Family Funday schedule. Fans are invited onto the field for a pre-game autograph session with the Ducks from 12:50 to 1:05 p.m. After the game, kids and kids at heart can take part in Kids Run the Bases, presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union.
