(High Point, N.C., Aug. 6, 2023) – Sunday’s (August 6) rubber game of a three-game series between the Long Island Ducks and High Point Rockers has been suspended due to inclement weather.

Zander Wiel put the Rockers in front 1-0 in the second inning with a solo home run to left-center field off Ducks starter Justin Alintoff. The Ducks responded by sending all nine men to the plate in the third against Rocker starter Jheyson Manzueta and scoring five runs. Brantley Bell’s three-run homer to left and Wilson Ramos’ two-run triple to right-center did the damage.

Long Island added two more runs in the fourth on a two-run double to left-center off the bat of Alejandro De Aza, making it a 7-1 game. However, the skies then opened, forcing the suspension of the game due to inclement weather. The game may be continued at a later date to be determined, if necessary.

The Ducks return home on Tuesday night to begin a three-game set against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs. Game time is slated for 6:35 p.m., with the Fairfield Properties Ballpark gates opening at 5:35 (5:20 for full season ticket holders). 1969 World Series champion New York Mets first baseman Ed Kranepool will be making an appearance at the ballpark. Kranepool will throw out a ceremonial first pitch and then sign autographs for fans outside the Waddle In Shop to promote his new book, which will be available for purchase in the store. He will be signing autographs for the first three innings of the game. It’s also a Triple Play Tuesday at the ballpark, and if the Ducks turn a triple play during the game, one lucky fan will win $25,000. Right-hander Joe Iorio (3-7, 7.18) gets the start for the Ducks against Blue Crabs lefty McKenzie Mills (4-2, 8.24).
