QuackerJack Foundation to donate Halloween candy to Operation Gratitude

The Long Island Ducks would like to thank everyone who donated their extra Halloween candy to Operation Gratitude this year. Over 1,000 pounds of candy were brought into the executive offices at Bethpage Ballpark between November 1 and 11, which is 600 pounds greater than in 2013!

The candy will be mailed to Operation Gratitude by the team’s charitable arm, the QuackerJack Foundation, in order to be used for care packages sent to troops fighting overseas. In addition to Halloween candy, toys, toiletries and letters to members of the armed forces were also included among donations.

Operation Gratitude annually sends 150,000+ care packages filled with snacks, entertainment, hygiene and hand-made items, plus personal letters of appreciation, to New Recruits, Veterans, First Responders, Wounded Warriors, Care Givers and to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed overseas. Their mission is to lift the spirits and meet the evolving needs of our Active Duty and Veteran communities, and provide volunteer opportunities for all Americans to express their appreciation to members of our Military. Since its inception in 2003, Operation Gratitude volunteers have shipped more than One Million Care Packages.

The Long Island Ducks are members of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bethpage Ballpark. For further information, call (631) 940-DUCK or visit www.liducks.com.
