DUCKS WELCOME 5,621 FANS BUT BARNSTORMERS EVEN SERIES

Frias and Ford each collect two hits for the Flock

(Central Islip, N.Y., Sept. 4, 2021) – The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Lancaster Barnstormers 13-2 on Saturday night in the second game of a four-game series at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.

L.J. Mazzilli gave the Ducks an early 1-0 lead with a first inning RBI single up the middle off Barnstormers starter Cameron Gann. Jake Hoover evened the score at one in the second on an RBI single to left off Ducks starter Anderson DeLeon. Lancaster went in front 3-1 in the third on Caleb Gindl’s solo home run to right and Trayvon Robinson’s sacrifice fly to left.

Vladimir Frias trimmed the Ducks deficit to one in the fourth with a two-out RBI single to right. However, a three-run homer to right by Kelly Dugan in the fifth pushed the Barnstormers lead up to 6-2. Lancaster plated four more runs in the seventh and three in the ninth to round out the scoring.

Gann (2-0) picked up the win, tossing five innings of two-run ball, allowing seven hits and two walks with one strikeout. DeLeon (4-4) took the loss, giving up six runs on nine hits over six innings while striking out six.

Frias and Lew Ford led the Ducks offensively with two hits apiece. Ty Kelly added a hit and two walks.
